Businesses Giving Back to Our Community

What does business have to do with improving our community? In short, everything. If we focus on businesses that are local, like Savemart and Hi-Tec Sports, we keep corporate-level jobs in Modesto and stanislaus County.

I am confident that we as a community can take it one step further. We can begin to identify the businesses, local or global, who have shown an interest in giving back to our community. These are the places where our money is best spent.

To that end, Modesto6.com will be passing out "The 6" window clings to local businesses who have shown a continuing commitment to our community, and in turn, help you make smarter decisions about where to spend your money, and how to make our local dollars do the most for our community.

Qdoba is Committed to its Neighborhoods.

Take a Business like Qdoba restaurant. They have recently opened a new franchise in Modesto, and they could just begin doing business just like any other fast food or casual restaraunt: with a keen eye on overhead, and a tight grip on early profits. However, Qdoba handled their opening with a different idea in mind.

Qdoba made it a priority to get involved with the community they were joining. They knew that if they started out as a good neighbor, more people would choose to spend their precious dining dollars there. They were right! Qdoba's various outreach efforts via social networking, providing free meals for various non-profits, and holding their opening as a charity benefit have solidified their standing in the Modesto business community in a short period of time!

The mission of Modesto6.com will always be to spotlight businesses like Qdoba, who know it's important to be involved in the communities they serve. In turn, we as a community can make businesses like Qdoba a success, while helping our neighbors at the same time. all this talk about Qdoba is making me hungry! Let's all feel good about giving great local businesses our money!
