Support Our Kids, Support Our Libraries!
The above video is a brief introduction to a group called the Stanislaus County Library Foundation. Board president Denise Nordell talks about how our libraries are funded, and the challenges they face in the future.

Better Kids Mean a Better Modesto!
The youth of Modesto aren't all gang bangers and future drug dealers as some in the media would have you believe. In fact, many kids in our communities are doing wonderful things that help make Modesto a better place to live! One of the best ways to get a front row seat for these contributions is to get involved with our local schools.
Parents of school-aged children must be an active, rather than passive participant in the success of your children. The children of Modesto need guidance. Volunteering your time with your local elementary, junior high or high school is a great way to have a direct impact on your community.
We have put together a list of school districts not only as a place for people to find opportunities to volunteer, but also so that parents of children in Modesto schools have a resource to turn to at a moment's notice yo get information about what goes on at their children's school.

In addition, to the district listings to the right, we have included other links as well. PTA is vital to the well-being of any successful school. PTA has taken over funding many programs that districts can no longer cover. The time and effort given by these volunteers is invaluable, and membership is as inexspensive as $5 at most schools.
Stanislaus County Library has a website that provides many online services to help further literacy all over Stanislaus County. They are a great place to hang out on hot summer days, and it is a free way to feed your children's growing love of reading!
Please consider giving your time to a local school, library or other youth-related activity. After all, it means a better Modesto for all of us!
